We admire beauty.
We're drawn to it.
We seek it out, save it to folders, like it, share it, tweet it, ink it on our bodies, paint it on the sides of buildings, fill out homes with it, and stand quietly with a room full of strangers admiring it through glass.
We cherish beauty . . . it's something sacred, even holy, to us.
People have died in their desire to find it and others have lived their lives in the pursuit of creating it.
Beauty is the ideal.
I'm not talking about some vain pursuit of looking attractive by complying to current makeup and fashion trends.
No.
True beauty transcends that. Real beauty is something that can't quite be described, although a lot of poets have given a good go at it. I'm not a poet and I am by no means a legendary master in any artistic endeavor. But I am a seeker. I'm constantly seeking out beautiful things. I want to hear it and watch it. I want to stand in a place and be moved by it . . .
And I have found that no beauty moves me more, no creation takes my breath away and sends tingles up my spine the same way that creating portraits of a woman does. You are the beauty that I seek out. You are created after The Ideal.
What greater honor for me than to photograph someone who has never before lived or will live again. Not only are you beautiful but you are entirely unique, a once in a lifetime creation never to be replicated.
The world admires beauty with its various forms, rules, and expectations. I chose to admire something limitless, ever changing, and surprising . . . I admire the beauty that is you.
All the love and thanks to the beautiful Bella who embraced our idea with smiles and encoring words. Thank you for being a beauty well worth admiring, Bella.
Huge thank you to Shea who worked through hundreds of pearls after doing a flawless makeup and hair job. And she did it with a smile, as she always does. Thank you for being my partner in the pursuit of beauty, Shea. Always an honor to have you along for the ride, always giving and adding goodness.
Love,
Melinda
