"When I was a little girl I found a picture of my mom and I remember thinking how beautiful she was," Stephanie said. "If I have children, I want that for them."
This is so much a part of having a legacy. When we remember those we have loved, when we remember our connection to them and desire to create new connections with our own posterity, that is celebrating a legacy.
Stephanie smiles every time she mentions the picture she saw of her mother when she was a little girl. She remembers how beautiful her mother was in that portrait. She remembers how connected she felt to her mother.
That feeling was so strong for Stephanie, it stayed with her until when she saw this picture:
"This is it," she said as she nodded her head. "This is the one."
"You'll be happy if your potential future children see this?" I asked even though the look in her eyes told me the answer. She nodded her head, not taking her eyes away from her portrait in her hands. . . . sometimes seeing your own beauty staring back at you can leave you without words.
This is a part of Stephanie's legacy. When anyone sees this they will see a portrait of a lady, a woman full of confidence, beauty, and strength.
Portraits are legacy. What's yours?
