Behind the Scenes

The last post was heavy. There was a lot of emotions happening in that post all filled with some deep art. While I always feel my emotions on a deep level and they ALWAYS ride on the surface, my biggest and most prominent emotions are happiness, contentment, and gratitude. I am so thankful for my life. I'm so thankful for this gift that I have. I'm so thankful that people like you, reading this right now, care enough about what I do to to follow me. All of this fills me with happiness. Here is a little behind the scenes video that shows a few things: 1) What a creative photoshoot is like. Its messy. A lot is being created on the spot. 2) We are always happy to be with one another. People I work with, whether its for you as a client or a creative project, are always good. I want to be around people who feel the same level of passion and dedication that I do. 3) Posing- one of my favorite things about Behind the Scenes video is seeing how I, as the photographer, move people. I love posing people. I love that when that moment comes I'm in it. I just feel it and move and direct, push and pull, tilt and navigate. Honestly, I don't remember the moments when I'm shooting. I remember how much I love the people I'm around. I remember how happy and joy-filled I am. But I dont remember these moment you get to see here. These little moments of connection when someone trusts me to move them to just the right spot so that they look just how they should.

Its like a key turning in place when the body moves- a few inches here, roll in the shoulder, pull the chin forward and down, relax the jaw- THERE! Now breath . . . . *click* For me its like magic, seeing it all come together. Whether its for you as a client or me as a creative project, its always a little magical. Thank you so much to Amanda Callahan and Lindsay Whitney of Vitality for coming in and doing incredible makeup IN THE WOODS. Do ya know they literally used water from the dirt when we needed it? Yeah, these ladies are like the Swiss Army Knife of stylists.

Thank you to the incredible Marinna who got just ridiculously dirty but smiled and laughed the whole time. It was also cold because we shot this in October and never ONCE did this incredible woman complain or hesitate. She was there with a smile on her face and happiness in her soul. She was also exactly the person we needed.

Thank you to Melissa, my dear friend who came to visit me from states away. She shot the majority of this video and she was the best second shooter I've ever had. Perhaps its her incredible attention to detail. Or her desire to see whatever she creates succeed. But I think it was more because of our connection that has grown and developed over 12 years. This woman has been my longest held friend, been there in dark moments and happy ones. In more cases than I can count I swear she reads my mind. And that's what she did this day. She was there doing something before I even had to ask. She gets my creative soul because her own is filled with more passion then I could say. Enjoy this, my friends. Laugh and smile with us. Love, Melinda
