One of my goals is to upscale children's portraiture, to make it something beautiful and unique.
There is something incredible about photographing young children, young girls especially.
When this young girl came into my studio with her family I took her and her sister through wardrobe, headdresses, fabric, flowers, jewelry, all the pretties I have.
They were stunned.
They gasped at every dress I pulled forward.
They beamed with joy at every flower.
And they were enthusiastic about every idea.
There was magic in what they were seeing! And they were happy to be apart of it.
Sometimes, as we get older, we think in order to be a 'proper' adult we have to reign in our enthusiasm. We have to keep our smiles in check.
And no dancing about.
No giggling.
No jumping for joy.
Keep it all contained and composed.
And when we do that we stop seeing the magic.
We can't see it in our lives, the world around us, the situations we're in, and we cannot see it in ourselves.
If you want a stagnant, somber, boring, adult photoshoot, I am not your photographer.
If you want something beautiful, something that will make you smile, I am your photographer.
If you want to be celebrated, if you want to remember who you are, if you want to be pampered, if you just want to believe that there is a little magic left in the world and maybe, just maybe, you are at the center of it, I am your photographer.
Young children see the magic in themselves. They know their value and worth. Let's follow their example and believe.
Start by believe in yourself.
